Sunderland v Man City betting
Sunderland welcome Manchester City to The Stadium of Light on Sunday, the second of three televised games on Sky Sports 1, with kick-off at 2.05pm.
Manuel Pellegrini’s side arrive in good heart having scored twelve goals in their last two games - seven against Norwich and then five against CSKA Moscow - and qualifying for the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League for the first time.
Sunderland have only won once this season (D1,L8) and so it's no surprise that bookmakers make City very short-priced favourites, at best odds of 4/9 with William Hill. Their hosts are available at a massive 8/1 and the draw at 4/1 - both with Bet365.
Coral are certainly taking a risk by offering City at odds of 11/10 to be winning at Half-Time and Full-Time - most other bookmakers are odds-on this happening.
But before you lump on City, it's worth remembering they have won just one of five away matches in the Premier League this season, losing three. Also, they have lost 1-0 on each of their last three league visits to The Stadium of Light (two of which saw last minute goals), so odds of 25/1 with BetVictor on another 1-0 home win offer some appeal.
But City will be confident of ending that run and in Sergio Aguero (7 goals in his last 5 league games) they have just the man to unlock Gus Poyet’s side. The Argentinian is available at stand-out odds of 7/2 with Paddy Power to score first, which is worth a bet.
Former City player Adam Johnson can be backed at 20/1 to score the first goal with Coral (as short as 12/1 elsewhere), but we prefer a bet on Steven Fletcher who is set to return to the Sunderland starting line-up and although he only has two goals to his name this season is by far the most likely goalscorer for the hosts.
The Scottish striker is 10/1 with Coral to score first and 7/2 with Coral to score at any time.
