Aston Villa v Man United betting

December 13th, 2013

This Sunday Aston Villa take on a wounded Manchester United side who have lost their last two Premier League games. The last time United lost three consecutive games was back in December 2001.

But United have an exceptional record against Aston Villa - they have won 25 of their last 36 meetings. Villa have managed just one victory in that period and it’s been 17 seasons since United were beaten by Villa at Villa Park in the league.

Wayne Rooney missed last weekend’s game against Newcastle due to suspension and the Red Devils missed his cutting edge. He had been in tremendous form prior to that enforced rest and he has a particularly good record against Villa, having netted eight goals in his last 10 matches against them, so Ladbrokes have taken a chance offering industry best odds of 9/2 on him scoring first. Rooney has scored two goals against Villa in four of the last ten games he has played them and a small bet on him to score at least two here at 11/2 is also suggested.

Christian Benteke was scoring goals for fun at the end of last season, but he has now gone 10 hours and 40 minutes without scoring a league goal. But his pace and power may cause this fragile United side problems and Paddy Power’s 14/1 on him scoring the first goal is a real value pick.

United have failed to keep a Premier League clean sheet now for 11 games so Coral have decided to offer the biggest price on them doing so here at 31/20 - but our money would be rather on both teams to score at 4/5 with Stan James.

Yes Both Teams to Score 4/5 Stan James
Wayne Rooney First Goalscorer 9/2 Ladbrokes
Wayne Rooney To Score 2 Or More 11/2
Christian Benteke First Goalscorer 14/1 Paddy Power
