Everton v Arsenal tips

August 22nd, 2014

Everton welcome Arsenal to Goodison Park on Saturday for a game that is live on Sky Sports 1 from 5.30pm.

Arsenal can be backed at best odds of 9/5 with BetVictor and Everton are available at the same price with Bet365, while the draw is 12/5 generally.

Last season the Toffees beat the Gunners 3-0 in this fixture - all but ending Arsenal’s title hopes, but that was the first time since March 2007 that Everton had beaten Arsenal in any competition (13 matches) and backing Arsenal in the Draw No Bet market at 5/6 with Bet365 looks a decent bet, especially as they have started the season in good form.

A 3-0 demolition of Man City in the Community Shield was followed up by a 2-1 defeat of a stubborn Crystal Palace at the Emirates last weekend, and Arsenal look a good bet to get at least something out of the game.

Olivier Giroud will be a popular choice to score the game’s first goal at a best priced 7/1 with BetVictor. However, we feel that backing a couple of Everton players at relatively big odds may be a good game plan here too.

Steven Naismith has scored four goals in his last nine Premier League appearances and Bet365’s 8/1 on him netting first is a little big in our opinion and an each way bet is recommended - Bet365 pay 1/3 odds for the place in this market (if your player scores at any time in the game).

Romelu Lukaku has now scored 15 goals in 32 games for the Toffees and he should also be backed each way to score the first goal at 11/2 with Paddy Power.

Everton have scored at least two goals in each of their last six home games and with Arsenal no bigger than 1/4 to score (with William Hill), a bet on Over 2.5 Goals at evens with Paddy Power is also recommended.

Finally, we suggest playing a few high scoring correct scores here. Everton have lost two of their last three home games 3-2, and a bet on that happening again is worth a speculative bet here at 30/1 with Ladbrokes. Also backing a 3-2 Everton win at 35/1 and the 2-2 draw at 14/1 is suggested - again the best odds are with Ladbrokes.
