Rep of Ireland v Gibraltar tips
The Republic of Ireland take on Gibraltar on Saturday at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin and the game is live on SkySports 3 from 5pm.
It will be only the seventh time that Gibraltar have ever played an international football match, and they have already managed two draws and a victory against Malta in friendlies - but UEFA’s newest member lost their first ever competitive game 7-0 to Poland in their opening Euro 2016 Group D qualifying match.
Ireland play Germany away from home on Tuesday night and this game will no doubt be a comfortable win before that difficult trip. As you would expect, Martin O'Neill’s side are strong favourites, with Bet365 offering best odds of just 1/50, while Gibraltar are as big as 75/1 and the draw 33/1 - both with BetVictor.
Given that Gibraltar conceded 7 goals at home to Poland, another mauling is not out of the question and we recommend backing Ireland to win 5-0, 6-0 and 7-0 at stand-out odds of 7/1, 10/1 and 15/1 respectively with 888sport. These odds are much larger than offered by any other bookmakers (Ladbrokes offer the same scores at just 9/2, 11/2 and 8/1).
LA Galaxy captain Robbie Keane has scored 62 goals for Ireland and he could easily get a hat-trick here (Robert Lewandowski scored four against Gibraltar for Poland). He can be backed at a tempting 6/1 to score 3 or more with BetVictor, or 11/4 with Bet365 to score first.
It's worth noting here that Paddy Power are offering to refund losing First/Last Goalscorer, Correct Score and Scorecast bets on this game as a free bet, if Keane scores first.
Aiden McGeady scored both of Ireland goal's in their 2-1 over Georgia in their opening Group D qualifier and he looks over-priced at 8/1 with Bet365 to score first. You can back that each-way with Bet365, who offer 1/3 odds for the 'place' in this market - if your player scores at any time in the game. Not bad considering some bookmakers make McGeady odds-on to score a goal at any time.
