West Ham v Man City tips

October 23rd, 2014

Manchester City travel to Upton Park on Saturday for the early afternoon Premier League fixture, live on BTSport1 from 12.45pm.

City, who let slip a 2 goal lead against CSKA Moscow on Tuesday night in the Champions League, have an excellent recent record against the Hammers in the Premier League, having won 5 of their last 6 games. So, it's no surprise to see the visitors as 4/7 favourites here with Betfred, BetVictor and Paddy Power, while West Ham are available at best odds of 11/2 and the draw at 17/5 - both with BetVictor.

Sam Allardyce’s side though are playing well at present and currently sit fourth in the table, directly above Liverpool, Man United and Arsenal. And in Diafra Sakho they have a striker in great form, but while we expect the Hammers to score again (as they have done in each of their last 7 league games), it is difficult to see them beating the Champions.

Six of West Ham's last 7 league goals have seen at least 3 goals, while City have scored 10 goals in their last 3 league games - and with this in mind, we strongly suggest backing 'Over 2.5 Goals' at best odds of 3/5 with BetVictor, while backing City to win and both teams to score at 15/8 with Bet365 also looks a value call.

Sergio Aguero is in scintillating goal scoring form at present - he scored the first goal in City’s last two games (both tipped here at odds of 18/5 and 4/1 respectively) and while in this form he simply must be backed to make that a hat-trick of first goals in a week. Take the 10/3 with Bet365 that he scores first and improves upon his already league leading ratio of a goal every 108 Premier League minutes.

If West Ham are to score it will most likely be the aforementioned Sakho who does so. The Senegal striker has started 6 games for the Hammers and has scored in all 6, including against Liverpool at home and Manchester United away. You can back him each-way to score first at best odds of 9/1 with Bet365, who offer 1/3 odds for the 'place' in this market - if your player scores at any time in the game.

Finally, it is worth noting that Sky Bet are offering to refund losing Correct Score and First Goalscorer bets on this game if Manchester City score more than one goal (which is a 4/9 chance with Coral), and so we suggest backing a couple of Correct Scores with them here. Take their 8/1 on a City 1-0 and a 1-1 draw at 7/1 - that way if City score twice, whatever the scoreline, you’ll get your money back.
