6 Nations - Round 1 tips
Wales v England (8.05pm Friday - BBC1)
Wales opened as a 10/11 shot to beat England in their 6 Nations opener, but England's much-publicised injury problems have forced that price in to just 4/7 (Paddy Power). It's true to say that Wales have a more settled and experienced starting XV, coupled with home advantage in what will be a fierce atmosphere, but that price may have gone too far, making England the better handicap selection. Ladbrokes and Coral are both offering Evens on Stuart Lancaster's side with a plus five start, or you can get 11/10 on the visitors with a 4 point start with Bet365.
Italy v Ireland (2.30pm Saturday - BBC1)
Championship favourites Ireland begin their quest for back-to-back titles against Italy in Rome, where they were beaten 22-15 on their last visit two years ago. Ireland have improved significantly since then and lost only one game last year, while they have won 18 of their last 20 meetings with the Azzurri. However, the hosts can make this difficult for them and are worth supporting with a plus 10 start, on offer from Bet365 at odds of 11/10 (just 10/11 with most bookmakers).
France v Scotland (5pm Saturday - BBC1)
France have won their last eight games against Scotland and are no better than 1/4 to defeat them again when the two teams meet in Paris on Saturday evening. The French were inconsistent throughout 2014 and it's never easy to predict how they will perform, while Scotland have shown some improvement under Vern Cotter. France have won the last three meetings by margins of six, seven and two points and this can be similarly close. Take the visitors with a 10 point start, paying Evens with Bet365 or Ladbrokes.
