Chelsea v Everton tips
Chelsea welcome Everton to Stamford Bridge on Wednesday and the game is live on BTSport1 from 7.45pm.
The hosts can be backed at best odds of 2/5 with Stan James, while Everton are available at 10/1 and the draw at 9/2 - both with Betfred.
Those odds imply that Chelsea have over a 70% chance of winning this game, with the draw an 18% chance and an Everton win just 9%. And you can see why the bookmakers think that, as Everton have won just one of their last 8 league games, while their only 3 league wins on the road this season have come at teams currently below them in the league - Burnley (19th), West Brom (16th) and most recently Crystal Palace (13th).
And, of course, they are playing a side who have won 10 of their 11 home games in the Premier League this season (D1). In fact, Chelsea have kept 15 clean sheets in their last 19 home league games.
However, although Everton have not won on any of their last 19 visits to Stamford Bridge, nine of those have been draws (47%), including 6 of the last 11 (55%), so it is not out of the question that the Toffees could scrap out a 0-0 or 1-1 result here (5 of those last 6 draws have been one of those scorelines - plus in 2011 they drew 0-0 here in an FA Cup replay - in normal time - before winning on penalties!)
So, our first suggested bet is for a low scoring game - the 'Under 2.5 Goals' market is at 21/20 with Bet365 - and of course you also collect if Chelsea win 1-0 or 2-0.
Last season this fixture ended 1-0 to Chelsea, courtesy of a John Terry header in injury time, while three seasons back it was a 2-0 home win and we also suggest backing both scorelines here with Betfred - as they offer to refund losing Correct Score bets on all televised games that finish 1-1. The 1-0 win is 11/2 and the 2-0 is a 6/1 shot - it’s also interesting to note that 6 of Chelsea’s 11 home games this season have ended 2-0.
If there is to be an Everton goal then it may well come from Steven Naismith, who has scored in 3 of his last 4 league games against Chelsea, and we cannot resist Paddy Power’s standout odds of 7/1 on him scoring at any time (just 4/1 with William Hill).
Of course, most bets placed on the goalscorer markets will rightly centre upon Chelsea players and, given that we anticipate a tight game, it wouldn’t be the biggest surprise if any goals come from a set play (just as happened here last season) and we like odds of 9/1 with Betfred on John Terry to score again (4/1 with William Hill).
Branislav Ivanovic - who scored Chelsea's winner at Villa Park on Saturday - is also worth backing at 8/1 with Betfred in this Anytime Goalscorer market (18/5 with William Hill).
